Year 2 is such an exciting year as the children progress through their journey at KGB school. The children are encouraged to become more independent and take more responsibility for their own learning. Year 2 is taught by Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Talkington with the support of Miss Read and Mrs Atkinson.
This year the topics we are learning are:
- What is the UK?
- Why do we celebrate Bonfire Night?
- What are the similarities and differences between my local area and Shanghai?
- What can photography tell us about Britain’s recent past?
- What are the wonders of the world?
- How do we find out about the distant past?
In Science the children consider:
- how do seeds and bubs grow into healthy plants.
- why we need to keep healthy.
- how materials are chosen by design.
- What do living thig s need to survive and where do they find it?
This year Year 2 will have the opportunity to experience Wisdom of the Woods during the Spring term.
Each term the children have an opportunity to undertake a presentation to the rest of the class on a topic of their choice. The children love this and it helps them gain confidence whilst developing their oracy skills.
